The Organic Farming Philosophy Of The Nutrilite Farms

NUTRILITE is the only global vitamin and mineral moniker to age, collect and procedure plants on their own certified organic farms. Wherever NUTRILITE fill out the ingredients used in NUTRILITE products, the crops are grown in agreement with nature.

NUTRILITE avoids the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.

NUTRILITE replenishes the dirty, rather than depleting it.

NUTRILITE uses involuntary, environmentally - buddy-buddy methods to government weeds, insects, and other harmful predators.

A requirement of all the farms supplying botanical materials attach to the NUTRICERT farm certification program ensuring that these farms tag on to NUTRILITE ' s own organic farming philosophy, guided by sustainable, organic poop. The main discernment of the NUTRICERT program constitute:

Crop and produce diversity, including vertical diversity of herbs, trees, and bushes; and integration of revolting husbandry, benign insects, and microorganisms.

Healthy spot - castle practices, approximative as the use of compost, valuable blacken microorganisms, corrosion ropes, and deficient use of mineral fertilizers.

No stain or environmental contamination, akin as using genetically modified organisms. The thought is to use integral pest management and protect the farms from possible sources of contamination from attached farms.

In - depth quality guidance standards, including proper documentation of farm inputs, traceability of crop sources, written plans to avoid contamination and control pests, and a quality assurance program for farm products sold.

Building a healthy social environment around the farm, providing farm employees with the opportunity for personal development, including education and training.

By owning and maintaining control over their own NUTRILITE farms, NUTRILITE can ensure that our supplements contain only high quality ingredients.

NUTRILITE ' s organic farming operations are truly multinational, with over 6, 400 acres in California, Washington State, Mexico, and Brazil.

Agricultural Research Farm - California - USA

NUTRILITE ' s Agricultural Research Farm in Lakeview, California, is the primary location where NUTRILITE farm researchers work to improve existing NUTRILITE products as well as identify nutrients and active ingredients for new products and the development of organic farming practices.

45 hectares ( 111 acres )

Located on a prehistoric lake bed, which accumulated nutrient - rich sediment, contributing to the fertile topsoil.

Primary crops: pomegranates, rosemary, and many test crops.

By feeding the soil with compost and by using carefully tested farming practices, NUTRILITE creates a better soil structure supplying crops with a vast array of nutrients.

At NUTRILITE ' s Agricultural Research Farm in Lakeview, local volunteers from the community help raise organic vegetables for their own use. In addition, the NUTRILITE Agricultural Research Farm organizes programs with local schools, bringing area students to the farm to grow crops as a school project each year.

Trout Lake Farm - Washington State - USA

Trout Lake Farm is the largest certified organic herb farm in North America. Located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, the farm ' s irrigation is provided by the White Salmon River, fed by glaciers from the mountains.

283 hectares ( 700 acres )

The Trout Lake valley where the farm is located is all organic there is no conventional farming in the valley and the surrounding mountains help keep out pollution and contaminants.

Primary crops: Echinacea purpurea, St. John ' s wort, horseradish, white kidney beans, dandelions, Echinacea angustifolia, Valerian, peppermint, nettles, and many others.

At Trout Lake Farm, the temperature, sunlight, and moisture levels change from year to year at different altitudes in the valley, so the farm must be carefully managed to ensure consistent yields of its many crops.

The NUTRILITE farm supports many local community projects, including the Trout Lake Fair, the local youth association baseball league, the area arts council, and the local public schools.

Rancho El Petacal - Jalisco - Mexico

Rancho El Petacal, located in southwestern Mexico, has the ideal growing climate with plenty of sunshine and rainfall the perfect conditions for growing nutrient - rich plants for existing NUTRILITE products, and for growing test plots for research.

All 566 hectares ( 1, 400 acres ) are certified 100 % organic.

The farm is a major source of jobs for the small community of El Petacal.

Primary crops: lemons, red grapefruit, mandarin oranges, watercress, parsley, spinach, garlic, alfalfa.

NUTRILITE ' s commitment to sustainability goes beyond the edge of the fields at Rancho El Petacal. NUTRILITE ' s reforestation programs have helped increase biodiversity and maintain the natural equilibrium of the area.

The NUTRILITE farm at Rancho El Petacal runs a Cultural and Education Support Center at the farm. Here NUTRILITE provides basic education on nutrition and ecology as well as help with local projects, such as building a new church in the community.

Fazenda Nutriorganica - Ubajara - Brazil

Fazenda Nutriorganica is the largest NUTRILITE farm. The farm produces acerola cherries year - round. Over 300 head of cattle on the farm provide natural fertilizer for the crops.

All 1, 660 hectares ( 4, 100 acres ) are certified 100 % organic.

Acerola cherries provide 100 % of our need for the natural ascorbic acid ( Vitamin C ) used in NUTRILITE products.

Primary crops: Acerola cherries, coconuts, passion fruit, guava, and cashews.

Most plant pest and disease problems are solved preventively by providing balanced organic nutrients to ensure strong, healthy growth.

Fazenda Nutriorganica was formerly a desolate, undeveloped tract of land. It is now a beacon of productive work, learning, and professional and personal development. A reforestation project along the banks of the nearby Jaburu River, organized by NUTRILITE, is now underway.

My next article entitled " The NUTRILITE Manufacturing Process Never Compromises on Quality " will show their standards of quality in manufacturing are as much a part of their company culture as their natural farming practices.

See you on the Beaches of the World,

The Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms

The debate over whether school uniforms are a good or bad notion is a blazing topic that has raged on for decades. Now with most things, skillful are two sides to the myth but most schools across the world cherish to subscribe that the pros of having a standardised uniform far outweigh the cons. However, both arguments have experts on their side and make valid points. Here is a summary of the pros and cons of school uniforms.

Pros

Countless educators and experts take it that students who apathetic school uniforms get better results academically than those who do not. This is being a uniform policy removes the distraction of having to guess about what they are exhausting and helps improve attention. If you are wearing a uniform it sets a more grim tone to the learning environment making learning easier and student performance is more valuable.

Experts rap that students who bum a school uniform behave more appropriately within the school environment due to the enforced rules. A stricter atmosphere is generally more conducive to learning. Some experts even believe that students who wear a uniform are less likely to behave in a violent manner within school hours.

As clothing and fashion are often the root of social conflict within the school environment, a lot of experts believe that a mandatory uniform eliminates this problem meaning that there is less bullying or trouble between students. Many children judge each other based on what they wear and this can cause problems. With a uniform everyone looks the same and less vulnerable.

Keeping up with trends and fashion can be a costly business; therefore many experts believe that using a school uniform is a great way of saving money as most as affordable to most families. Uniforms also tend to be quite durable and easy to wash which is a bonus.

Cons

Many experts feel that the biggest drawback for children who are made to wear a uniform is that their self - expression is stifled. They believe that curbing individuality in young children can be detrimental to their development. Experts also believe that forcing each child to fit into a specific mould effectively strips away their individuality, not celebrating diversity as they should be.

Just as many people think that the cost of school uniform is negative as those who see it as a positive factor. Some parents think that a uniform increases the amount of clothing they will have to buy their children as they will still need clothes for the hours that they are out of school.

Some argue that comfort is needed in order to maximise learning and that most school uniforms are not comfortable. Therefore, many believe that uniforms can deter academic success.

This is a debate that is set to continue for many years to come but as most schools around the world already operate a mandatory uniform system it looks like uniforms are here to stay, for a few more years yet anyway.

The Systems of Education in the UK - Scottish and NI Year Groups

Having previously looked at the structure of the school years within England and Wales the following article covers the equivalent structures across both Scotland and Northern Ireland with each following their own systems.

Northern Ireland

The school year system in Northern Ireland broadly follows the same core structure as the English / Welsh system and therefrom is not as distinct as that of the Scots, although acknowledged are still few bottom line which set it apart.

Each of the UK ' s systems have a cut off date at which the child ' s age determines the year crowd in which they are to associate. Across the Irish sea this date is 1 September, the start of the school year, however in Northern Ireland it is 1st July ( c. f. 1 Pace in Scotland ). Although the Northern Irish school year also begins in practice on 1 September, it effectively runs from July to July with the summer holidays cover the months of July and August.

Primary school years are referred to as Primary 1 through to Primary 7 ( fairly than using the English terminology incorporating Lawn social ) and in consequence year numbering is comparatively one ahead of the English system, with, for example Year 7 in England being equivalent to Year 8 in Northern Ireland. In many secondary schools, however, the colloquial ' form ' naming convention is still used to refer to the year groups with the ' first ' to ' fifth forms ' and ' lower ' and ' upper sixth '.

Primary School / Education

Ages 4 / 5 to 10 / 11

Primary 1 to 7Secondary School / Education

Ages 11 / 12 to 17 / 18

Years 8 to 14

The primary and secondary stages are again split into Key Stages which are broadly consistent with the English system although the Foundation Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 stages both start a year behind their English equivalents.

Foundation Stages - Primary 1 & 2 ( ages 4 to 6 )

Key Stage 1 - Primary 3 & 4 ( ages 6 to 8 )

Key Stage 2 - Primary 5 to 7 ( ages 8 to 11 )

Key Stage 3 - Years 8 to 10 ( ages 11 to 14 )

Key Stage 4 - Years 11 & 12 ( ages 14 to 16, ending in GCSEs )

Sixth Form / College - Years 13 & 14 ( ages 16 to 18, ending in A Levels or International Baccalaureate )

Scotland

As the governance of the Scottish Education system sits with the Scottish Parliament and outside of the control of Westminster, the school year system in Scotland differs considerable from those of England, Wales and Northern Ireland; from the structure of the school year groups to the process involved in determining each year ' s first intake.

Although the school year in Scotland runs August to August, the date at which a child ' s age is measured has been separated from these dates and instead the mid point, 1 March, is used. All children must start school in Aug regardless of when their birthday is in contrast with the structure south of the border. However, under this system children who turn 5 years of age between 1 March and 31 July will begin their education in the coming August alongside children who are due to turn 5 between the following 1 August and 28 / 29 February. Therefore, all children starting their first year of primary school should fall in the age range 4 to 5, with Spring - Summer borns aged 5 to 5 and Autumn - Winter borns aged 4 to 5.

However, this intake is flexible and so children born in January and February who would only be just over 4 at the start of the school year can be held back in nursery for an extra year if the parent wishes, whilst it is also possible, although not guaranteed, to request a delay for those born in the three months preceding that. Prior to their Primary education children have access to Nursery as soon as they turn 3 years of age.

Akin to the naming convention in Northern Ireland ( and contrary to England & Wales ), Scottish primary school years are referred to as Primary 1 to Primary 7, however, the numbering begins again in secondary school with S1 to S6 year groups:

Primary School / Education

Ages 4 / 5 to 10 / 11

Primary 1 to 7Secondary School / Education

Ages 11 / 12 to 17 / 18

S1 to S6 ( S5 & S6 are optional )

Due to the variation of ages in particular year groups and the fact that children take their Higher exams in S5 which can qualify them for University, some leave secondary school at this point although most remain for S6 and take their Advanced Highers before progressing.

Most Secondary Schools are variably referred to as High Schools or Academies with a few referred to as Grammar schools ( although this term carries no practical meaning ), colleges or simply Secondary Schools. A few schools in more remote areas provide education through both the primary and secondary levels, either up to S4 known as Junior Schools, or in entirety, simply known as Schools. However, there are also a handful of privately run schools in Scotland which sit outside of this structure and instead follow the English system.

The Public Education Predicament

If someone were to come up and tell you that the education provided in the United States is one of the best in the world, you would most likely nod in agreement since this is after all the United States of America we are speaking of, a country which can maintain to give its students the latest technological innovations to help them with their education and some of the best and the brightest minds to educate their younger generations. But the nitty-gritty is often plain different from what we can think.

If you are residing in the United States and are one of the lucky few who can altogether fit Private schooling, learned is a very same higher chance for your child to complete his / her education in a timely fashion, but if you fall amongst the other majority who have to nail down for Public schooling, your child will have to face a system position teachers are not mandated to fit out the right education and where students have to be accepted regardless of their behavior.

The problem - public schools are complicated, underfunded operations greatly influenced by political whims. Financed through federal, state, and local taxes, public schools are part of a larger school system, which functions as a part of the government and must follow the rules and regulations set by politicians. And if that wasn ' t enough, the Teachers Union also enjoys considerable control over the regulations set on public school.

The core belief of the Teacher ' s Union is that all teachers are equal and that is reflected in the collective bargaining agreement. There is absolutely no incentive for innovation or hard work, and this leads to a culture where teachers can get away without feeling a need to educate the students, to put it simply " They don ' t have to, and no one can say anything! " because the Teachers Union are there to protect their interests only.

Three things to consider when choosing between a Private and Public Education - environment, education and enhancement:

Environment - Public schools are by law required to accept every child and if there is a student with a behavioral issue that is disruptive, a private school is able to seek out a solution for the greater good, whereas public schools are made responsible for that child, the disruptive behavior of one student can affect the educational environment of all the other students.

Education - Because private schools don ' t have to follow the teacher certification rules of public schools, they can have their own diverse faculty of various educational backgrounds and also are not required to adhere to the recruitment and dismissal guidelines set up by the Teachers Union, thus the teachers are made responsible to provide the right education.

Enhancement - This implies the position of influence that the teachers maintain on students, it is an understood fact that teachers have a significant influence on the mental development of his / her students; the teacher takes the position of an ideal role model. While good teachers will always result in the students being more attentive and hardworking, the opposite can have some serious adverse effects. Whereas private schools have the liberty to hire or dismiss a teacher based on the influence he / she plays, public schools on the other hand have their hands tied because of Teachers Union rules.

The Pros And Cons Of Chat Rooms

Socialization on the through internet chat rooms has become a growing trend. Online communications is fast becoming a subsitute for face to face communications. The boost availability of online communication apparatus has not unaccompanied else the efficiency in which humans interact, but has and brought about changes in the way humans interact. Due to the interpersonal boundaries of internet chat rooms, it is easy for people to voluntary themselves in manners that would less likely take place in a more personal setting. Some would like go consequently far as to say an internet chat room is a state of anarchy due to the deficiency of inside track and regulation.

Chat rooms can be used for students to gibber " live " to other users that are online at that time. This is called " synchronous " communication. Chat rooms can have quintessential topics that students gibber about or can be open for helping topics. Many dangers have been associated with open chat rooms where users really do not know who they are " chatting " with and inappropriate discussions may take place.

Chatting with friends online - via services like MySpace and Bebo - is beginning to take over from watching TV as the main hobby of many young people. Much of the chat is happening in what are called ' community websites '. Unlike chat rooms, they are not open to everyone: each person has to be invited to join in. A safer alternative is a private chat room where only certain known users are allowed into the chat room. This can be useful for students in a class to have a discussion with one another, for students to work in groups or for private interviews with a few people. It is not as useful if students are in different time zones since the discussion takes place in real time. Asynchronous chatting can be done through discussion boards.

Chat rooms ( synchronous discussions ) seem to have few advantages over news groups, listservs, or mailing lists ( asynchronous discussions ) - with one exception. Discussions on complicated concepts, when conducted in asynchronous mode, can take many days, or even weeks, to complete. In a chat room, the same discussion may be completed in a much shorter time. This can be very important in teaching math, science, and technology.

However, the concept has recently evolved in such a way that it mostly refers to simultaneous ( " synchronous " ) discussions. This means that the participants are at their computers at the same time, and respond to each other ' s messages immediately, much like a discussion between people in a room.

1. The major disadvantage of chat rooms is that the participants need to schedule to meet at a particular time. As with any other meeting, this may be inconvenient, and may take much administration to achieve with busy people.

2. At present, not many regular public chat rooms have been established for educational purposes.

While public chat rooms for the purpose of school education are few, there are many ( the great majority, and those most easily accessible, by all appearances ) which are devoted to sexually explicit discussions of a kind that is most unsuitable for most school children. It is rumoured that some persons with a taste for sexual abuse of children have used chat rooms to make contact with child victims. Many people may not be familiar with how an internet chat room works. Upon entering a chat room, a person will be provided with an id. This can be an id specific to a particular chat room or depending on the service provider, it can be ones login id for their internet service. These ids are usually anynomous in nature.

An internet chat room offers an environment that is anynomous and one that allows for uninhibited freedom without fear of being indentified. This allows people to stay in control and make expressions that may not normally be made in a face to face interaction.
